John Ridley, Oscar-winning screenwriter of 12 Years a Slave and owner of Milwaukee s Nō Studios, will be writing Marvel s new Black Panther comic book series.  The news was officially announced May 18 by The New York Times, according to a Marvel article. In the New York Times interview, Ridley described the series as a hybrid espionage-superhero thriller with a love story at its core.  Ridley will be working with Marvel artist Juann Cabal on the project, the Marvel article said.  Black Panther’s current series will conclude this month. Ridley s Black Panther (2021) No. 1 is scheduled to be published in August. This isn t Ridley s first time in the comic book world.
