Black historical figures such as Frederick Douglass and Martin Luther King Jr. peer out at viewers from behind layers of paper and shadows. The photographs, taken by photographer Aaron Turner, mix historical images with modern abstract photography, all in black and white.

The year’s shortest month is winding down and no matter what your interests, you should be able to find something to do this weekend.
Live music will be at Coleman’s and Sharkey’s on Friday night, there will be cardboard sled races at Skaneateles Ski Hill, and you can be a judge at Ithaca’s Chili Cook-Off.
