The Black Professionals in Construction Network (BPIC) has launched a new awards programme to celebrate the industry’s champions of diversity and inclusion.
The inaugural BPIC Awards features eight categories open to individuals, institutions, contractors, and projects, including an award for the most outstanding minority-owned business in UK construction.
Entries for the 2021 awards are currently open, with a deadline for submissions on 26 August. Judging is due to commence on 2 September, with shortlisted nominees announced two weeks later.
Winners will be revealed at a black-tie gala dinner to be held at the East Wintergardens, Canary Wharf, on 1 December.
BPIC chair Amos Simbo said: “Our awards will recognise and celebrate the amazing work being done by those from diverse backgrounds and companies alike in improving the diversity and inclusion agenda. Following the hardships and new ways of working we have all had to adapt to, there is no better year for us to launch.”

PHOENIX The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks, @LosDbacks) will celebrate Juneteenth, which honors the ending of slavery in the United States, this Saturday at Chase Field with a pregame ceremony to cap off a series of events this week.
Earlier today, members of the front office enjoyed a private viewing of the movie “The Other Boys of Summer,” a documentary about civil rights, racism and segregation in America told through the lives of Negro League baseball players. Filmmaker Lauren Meyer spoke with the front office before and after the screening, which was organized by the team’s Black Professionals and Allies Team Player Resource Group (TPRG). The D-backs front office will be closed on Friday in observance of the holiday.
