Espanola council passes 2021 municipal budget
SHARE ON: Espanola council has passed the municipal budget with the first increase in three years, a slight increase of .63%. Espanola taxpayers will see a slight increase in their tax bills this year but they will also see one of the largest capital projects in the town’s history completed.
Deputy Mayor Bill Foster, who also chaired the budget committee, says the council had been looking at a 1.5% increase in taxes, but thanks to an increase of $71,072 in new assessment growth the levy portion will come in at 0.63%.
The Black Creek Bridge replacement project is moving forward.
Espanola council has unanimously agreed to have the final detailed design plans completed for $208,000.
This process is expected to take 17 weeks and construction is estimated at 12-16 weeks.
It is anticipated that the full cost of the design and construction can be 100% funded by the Ontario Community Infrastructure Funding allocations as there are approximately three years outstanding for a total of $819,500.
This project will also fall under the 2021 municipal budget.
