Road closed sign A BUSY road near Worcester is due to be closed for more than a month which is set to cause major disruption for drivers who live in the area. Main Road in Hallow will be closed from July 22 till September 1 to accommodate sewage work for a residential development. The closure will impact residents driving to and from Worcester, who will no longer be able to use the A443 to travel in to the city. Resident Grace Walton said: The road closure will cause a massive disruption to residents in Hallow. Commuting to work will be an absolute nightmare. It will mean driving through the villages on the outskirts of Worcester just to get in to town, which will add a lot more time to car journeys.
Eulogy by Attorney Lillian Dykes for Grace Walden at her Funeral Service at the Nursing Home in Memphis, TN where she died on June 21, AD1998.
Time, and Place, and Connection: We are tied to life and to each other by time, and place, and our willingness to be connected. We are here at this time and in this place to acknowledge our connectedness to Grace and, because of her, to share this moment connected to one another.
Time and Place are our history. Time and place was Grace’s history. Now instead of then. Here instead of there. Being formed and forming, the history of our lives.
TODAY, road traffic offences and accidents are generally associated with the advent of the motor car. But dangerous driving, speeding and road accidents were also a serious problem in the age that preceded them. Nowadays the police have the benefit of car registration plates to identify offenders. Although these did not exist in the 19th century, the law did require all backboards and tail gates on waggons and carts to clearly display the name of the owner and their town or village. Heavy fines were imposed on those who failed to display their details clearly. Offences relating to speeding vehicles were introduced under the Offences Against the Person Act 1861 – “Whosoever, having the charge of a carriage or vehicle, shall by wanton or furious driving or racing, or other wilful misconduct, or by wilful neglect …. be guilty of a misdemeanor.”
