According to Audrey Quicke, a researcher for the Australia Institute’s climate and energy program, Australia is a ‘long, long way behind’ the Nordic nations (encompassing countries like Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway and Iceland) when it comes to supporting the electric vehicle industry. In Norway for example, three quarters of the country’s vehicle sales are for electric vehicles. The global average for percentage of electric vehicles that make up total vehicle sales is about 4%.

NSW Health has apologised to NSW’s Customer Service Minister Victor Dominello after he was incorrectly informed that he was a casual contact, instead of a close contact, of infected Agriculture Minister Adam Marshall, the ABC reports. It follows Deputy Premier John Barilaro’s scathing comments describing his state health authority’s classification system as a “lucky dip”, The Sydney Morning Herald says. Dominello appeared at a press conference on Wednesday alongside NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian and chief health officer Kerry Chant, but NSW Health says he has tested negative twice so far and posed a “low risk”. Dominello will be in isolation until July 6.

Having already endured three years of drought, the bushfires in late 2019 must have felt like the final straw. And then, of course, came COVID-19. When restrictions in NSW finally eased in June last year and people started travelling again, the Hunter faced a more familiar challenge: the surprising indifference of many Sydneysiders to the world-class wine region on their doorstep. Many bypassed it in favour of what are perceived as the cooler wine destinations such as Orange and Mudgee.
