The Government has unveiled 100 immediate pledges to improve the lives and opportunities of disabled people in a landmark £1.6 billion strategy that has drawn muted responses from charities.
A public awareness campaign to dispel ingrained stereotypes and a taskforce examining the increased costs disabled people face are being promised in the cross-department disability strategy.
The Government will also consult on whether to make it mandatory for employers with 250 or more staff to report on disability in their workforce, after a voluntary scheme did not yield enough data.

Ministers have announced plans to help disabled people in the workplace, part of a wider disability strategy billed as the most ambitious in a generation, but condemned by some campaign groups as notably thin in specific policies.
The 120-page strategy, led by the Department for Work and Pensions, is intended as the first step in an annual process by which all departments will be assessed on how well their policies help disabled people.
The first incarnation, backed by £1.6bn in funding â although this is all money previously announced â focuses on the workplace, tackling inclusion and seeking to cut a disability employment gap currently at 28.6%.
