Premium Content Subscriber only A drug driver who was involved in a Cunningham Highway crash later claimed he had been running late for an appearance in court. Ipswich Magistrates Court heard Adam Walter Harry Boreham was “highly erratic” and fell asleep while police were talking with him. Despite telling police he hadn’t taken anything before driving, a drug test later showed Boreham, 28, was under the influence of a cocktail of drugs at the time of the crash. The court heard Boreham was sitting in the driver’s seat of his blue Holden Commodore about 7.35am when police arrived at the crash on the Cunningham Hwy, New Chum on August 12, 2020.

Repair works for busy hwy overpass lagging

Premium Content Subscriber only MOTORISTS frustrated by delays caused by the closure of the eastbound lane of a busy overpass on the Cunningham Highway aren’t likely to find any relief soon with repair designs still not finalised. The Department of Transport and Main Roads says it cannot yet release a time frame on when repair work to the Redbank Plains Road overpass at Blackstone will begin, more than two months after it was damaged. A truck carrying an excavator damaged two girders on the bridge when it crashed into the overpass on March 1. The same vehicle hit the Aberdare Road overpass at Dinmore on the same day.

Feds, state butt heads over vital highway funding

Speaking with the Queensland Times on Wednesday, Mr Neumann slammed the lack of funding allocated to city infrastructure as “disappointing,” saying it was a missed opportunity. Key projects including much-needed upgrades to the Cunningham Hwy between Yamanto and Ebenezer Creek, a proposed Springfield-Ipswich rail line and upgrades to the North Ipswich Reserve received no mention in the $1.6 billion spend. A total of $4 million will go toward the Warrego Highway-Mount Crosby Rd interchange project – making up 80 per cent of its projected $5 million price tag.
