Why is West Virgina Sen. Joe Manchin taking public swipes at Vice President Kamala Harris over a television interview?
It all started when Harris, on behalf of the Biden administration, did two interviews on local television stations in West Virginia and Arizona touting the administration s new COVID-19 relief bill dubbed the American Rescue Plan.
It s not a coincidence that the vice president did exclusive interviews for those two television markets. Sens. Manchin and Krysten Sinema are two of the more moderate members of the Democratic caucus and, according to the Associated Press, expressed concerns over the relief package during private phone calls with White House officials.
