Earlier this month, Chief of Treaty #3 Police Kai Liu was presented with the Governor Order of Merit of Police Forces award in a virtual ceremony. Chief Liu’s wife, Heidi Liu, presented the award.
Established in October 2000, the Order of Merit of the Police Forces honours the leadership and exceptional service or distinctive merit displayed by the men and women of the Canadian Police Services The primary focus is on exceptional merit, contributions to policing and community development.
“Leading indigenous police services is challenging at the best of times, and Chief Kai Liu has done so at a time when all the added stresses of a global pandemic added to the workload,” said Ogichidaa Francis Kavanaugh. “His steadfast leadership and consistent advocacy for our police service has shown me that Chief Liu has definitely earned his place among the Treaty #3 Police family.”

As part of the commitment to the Provincial Traffic Safety Program the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) will be taking part in the annual Canada Road Safety Week campaign.
The seven-day campaign, running from May 18 to May 24, is a collaborative effort by Canadian Police Services which targets high risk driving behaviours that put road users at risk.
