Suburban Counties to Focus on Second Vaccine Doses During Supply Shortage

As a result, the Will County Health Department and the DuPage County Health Department said they will focus on people getting their second vaccine doses. “I think it’s particularly unfortunate because we have a very large group of individuals in front of us, even in the original Phase 1B population, who are ready, willing and very able to, to be vaccinated,” said Karen Ayala, executive director of the DuPage County Health Department. Beth Rrodriguez of Glen Ellyn said she and her sister have been trying help their mother, Kathy Rodriguez, schedule her first vaccine dose. “We’ve been very unsuccessful checking websites from all the different pharmacies,” said Beth Rodriguez.  “My mom is registered at three different hospitals to get notifications when it’s available and so far we’ve had no success.”

County Meals Tax Revenue Better Than Anticipated

The Bennington-Horton family had only opened its eatery five months before the pandemic struck. “It’s kind of hard to compare this past year to anything since we’re new, but in regards to [business], we’re happy to be serving,” said Nicole Bennington. In October 2019, the Penn Laird family opened Crossroads Cafe and Catering at 4549 Spotswood Trail in the east Rockingham community it calls home. At the cafe, the family serves sandwiches, soup and salad while the meal preparation creates comfort food for customers. The meal prep has been the most popular slice of business as interest and rules around in-person dining limit potential for businesses such as the Bennington-Horton’s.

Last-minute shopping crowds concern local health officials

Last-minute shopping crowds concern local health officials Last-minute shopping crowds concern local health officials and last updated 2020-12-24 18:31:23-05 CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — COVID-19 isn t stopping Corpus Christi residents from doing some late Christmas shopping, but the effects of this last-minute rush to the store could possibly be felt in the coming weeks. Health officials are concerned by long lines and heavy traffic at some of Corpus Christi s major shopping centers, including Moore Plaza and La Palmera Mall. We re still seeing very high hospitalizations and high (numbers of) ICU patients with COVID-19, said NUeces County-Corpus Christi Public Health Director Annette Rodriguez. We don t want to see anyone else become a patient of COVID-19.
