Madison HS Class of 2021: 17 valedictorians, 1 salutatorian

View Comments MANSFIELD - Madison Comprehensive High School had more valedictorians in its class of 2021 than most schools have in several years combined: 17 valedictorians, each with a 4.0 grade point average.  Principal Sean Conway said it was the most valedictorians in school history. It was an unbelievable class of talented kids and not just skilled academically but also athletically, he said. They were all very, very special kids, said Conway.  There were over 200 graduates in the class of 2021, he said. The graduation ceremony had been scheduled for Friday night in the football stadium but bad weather moved it to indoors on Saturday night.

Immaculata’s Baccalaureate Mass is Thursday, June 3 at 6 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church with Immaculata High School director Msgr. Joseph Celano as the main celebrant. The graduation ceremony is Friday, June 4 at 6 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church. Barbara Stevens, assistant superintendent of Catholic Schools, will distribute diplomas. Tickets are required for both events. In September, Izzo will be attending the University of Connecticut as a biological sciences major within a pre-med track. Students at Strode College in Street celebrated at annual awards

Strode College held their awards this month, nominating students who completed their courses last year. There were 23 categories in the awards, based on outstanding performance on courses and exceptional personal qualities. Most of those who received awards had completed A Levels and vocational qualifications last year, but there were also awards for Higher Education Student of the Year, Adult Student of the Year, Apprentice of the Year, the Rachael House Award for Skills for Life and Success Against the Odds. Katy Quinn, principal and CEO of the college in Street, said: “Whilst unfortunately unable to hold our usual annual awards ceremony due to the pandemic, we still wanted to celebrate the incredible hard work and achievements of all our students.
