Theodore Tugboat is moving, and he’s been bringing crowds to harbors along the way. North Country residents can see the boat transit the Eisenhower lock in Massena between 8:30-9am Thursday morning. The visitor center is opening early.
Theodore is a life-size version of the model used as the lead character in the children’s television series that aired on CBC in Canada from 1993 to 2001 and on PBS in the United States. Theodore and his friends lived and worked in the Big Harbour, which on the show, was a remarkably accurate scale model of the harbour in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The Harbourmaster host and narrator of Theodore Tugboat was Halifax born and raised Denny Doherty, formerly a member of The Mamas and the Papas.
