The Daily News Students entering Coastal Carolina Community College with plans to become a teacher may receive free tuition and a $500 book allowance per semester for both fall, 2021 and spring 2022. Coastal has two new programs for those wanting to become teachers. Applicants must have an unweighed 3.0 GPA and submit a one-page essay on their future plans on entering the workforce and become a teacher.  Steps to complete a future teacher scholarship program is to complete a residency application through the NC residency determination service, complete a CCCC admissions application, complete the FAFSA (even if you don’t qualify for financial aid you must submit an updated FAFSA each year at fafsa.gov, complete the scholarship application located at Coastal’s website. Items needed to complete is a current high school transcript, and letter of endorsement from current or former teacher. Thomasville fire and rescue promote new assistant fire chief

Newly promoted Assistant Fire Chief Jason Myers moved to Thomasville in 1992, graduating from East Davidson High School. Little did he know his dedication toward a fire service career would lead him to advancement from Battalion Chief to Assistant Chief of Operations. After beginning his fire service career, Myers continued his education by receiving an Associate s Degree in Fire Protection Technology from Coastal Carolina Community College. He also obtained his Bachelor s Degree in Fire and Emergency Service Management from Fayetteville State University.
