Time magazine has named Illinois congressman Adam Kinzinger to the 2021 TIME100 Next list of emerging leaders, including U.S. Sens. Ben Sasse and Jon Ossoff, Inauguration Day poet Amanda Gorman and filmmaker Chloe Zhao.
The list of individuals, an expansion of the TIME100 list of most influential people in the world, highlights emerging names in business, entertainment, sports, politics, health, science and activism.
Kinzinger, a Republican from Channahon who represents Winnebago and Boone counties along with 12 other counties in the U.S. House, was named to the list for his efforts in shaping the future of politics and his leadership following the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol and standing up for his beliefs in the face of harsh criticism for his support for the impeachment of former President Donald Trump.
ROCKFORD The Iroquois County GOP in central Illinois has joined nearby LaSalle County s Republican Central Committee in voting to censure U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger over his vote to impeach former President Donald Trump.
While dozens of counties across Illinois voted to support LaSalle County Republicans in their censure of the Republican congressman on Feb. 3, none took a vote of their own until late last week when Iroquois County Republicans met and approved its own censure.

Winnebago County Republicans condemn Trump impeachment, not Kinzinger
ROCKFORD Winnebago County Republicans were careful to express their disapproval over the impeachment of former President Donald Trump, but did not censure U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger.
The executive committee of the Winnebago County Republican Central Committee met Tuesday night and was asked to consider a censure, a formal statement of disapproval, for Kinzinger but ended up issuing a statement saying members of the committee strongly disagree with any Republican, Congressman Adam Kinzinger included, who voted to impeach President Trump without evidence of inciting an insurrection, along with those who vote to convict him.

SPRINGFIELD Springfield attorney and businessman Don Tracy, the former head of the Illinois Gaming Board, was elected chairman of the Illinois Republican Party on Saturday.
Tracy, 70, will fill out the remaining two years of Tim Schneider’s four-year term. The 65-year-old Schneider of Bartlett had been chairman since 2014, taking over for Jack Dorgan.
Tracy beat out Mark Shaw, the Lake County Republican Party chairman and president of the Republican County Chairmen s Association of Illinois, and Kendall County Board Chairman Scott Gryder.
