LAWRENCE (Mercer) First responders were applauded by a crowd on Business Route 1 in Lawrence Township after successfully freeing a 14-year-old bicyclist who was hit by an SUV on Sunday afternoon.
The boy was trapped for about 30 minutes while firefighters, police and EMT braced the vehicle from collapsing onto him, according to Dennis Symons of MidJersey.news, which was first to report the story. He had an angel on his shoulder, Lawrence police Lt. Joe Lech told New Jersey 101.5
Officers kept the boy calm as firefighters used airbags and rescue tools. MidJersey.news reported that the boy was able to use his cell phone to talk with his parents during the rescue.

RINGGOLD, Ga. (CN) The people giving out Covid-19 vaccines under the tents at a Georgia civic center turned regional vaccine facility are a mix: EMS students, retired nurses and firefighters, to name a few.
They say they have vaccinated thousands of their neighbors drive-thru style in the cold and rain and they plan to continue to do so in the coming Georgia heat, reaching in cars with either the Pfizer or Moderna shots. Even as they expand hours to make it easier for people to get vaccinated, they’ve had to pause for an afternoon when thunderstorms threatening tornadoes rolled through a few days back.
At 2:30 the afternoon of Dec. 30, Probate Judge Christy Anderson swore in the members of the new Walker County Board of Commissioners at the courthouse in LaFayette. The meeting was not open to the public but is posted on Facebook.
Each member of the new board took a turn standing before Judge Anderson, left hand placed on a Bible held by one or more relatives, right hand raised, and swore that he was legally qualified to be a commissioner, that he had no financial conflicts of interest, that he would perform his duties to the best of his ability and that he would uphold the Constitution of the United States and the constitution of the state of Georgia.
