Joe McGirr, founder of Boatyard Distillery in Fermanagh
Master distiller Joe McGirr is toasting the developing success of a major investment to grow sales of his unique double gin and vodka in the strategic New York state from his picturesque Boatyard Distillery in a converted boat house overlooking Lough Erne in Co Fermanagh.
Setting up in New York as a springboard to the huge US market for spirits is an important stage in the business journey of the talented entrepreneur, a genuine son of the Fermanagh soil. Joe established Boatyard Distillery in 2016 on the back of a stellar career in the spirits industry especially in Britain.
FERMANAGH-based spirits maker The Boatyard Distillery are continuing to expand, and have announced its launch into the US market. As of May 1, Boatyard Double Gin is available throughout New York state, distributed by established distributor Empire Merchants, a premium wine and spirits distributor that have roots going back to the end of Prohibition. In addition to this launch, The Boatyard Distillery has also announced the appointment of Michael Smoley as Market Manager, based in New York. Michael joins Boatyard following a lauded tenure at New York’s NoMad Hotel, where he was one of the key leaders behind the NoMad Bar s success, with it consistently featuring in the World’s 50 Best Bars lists, amongst other accolades.

Signature Brew creates Good Vibrations
North London-based beer maker Signature Brew has revealed 5.2% ABV Good Vibrations – a hazy, golden New England Pale Ale containing stone fruit and vanilla notes.
The release coincides with the brewer reopening the doors to its Blackhorse Road Brewer’s Bar, Haggerston Taproom and Walthamstow burger and beer bar, the Collab.
Brothers Cider releases Toffee Apple alcohol-free
Brothers Cider has unveiled the latest addition to its range of unique ciders with the launch of Toffee Apple Alcohol Free. The new variant is 0% ABV as well as gluten free and vegan friendly.
One of the largest drinks conglomerates in the world has chosen Blakes of The Hollow in Enniskillen to release an exclusive cask of one of their Irish whiskeys. Pernod Ricard, headquartered in Paris, through their subsidiary Irish Distillers, have bottled and packaged a single cask of Powers 2000 19 Year Old whiskey wholly for Blakes. This is the only Powers 19 Year Old whiskey available world-wide. “We match our single casks to prestige outlets. Blake’s fits that bill. They have previously had access to a Midleton single cask and have been playing their part in the promotion of Irish whiskey for decades,” said a spokesperson for the company.
