MACEDONIA – Nearly $1 million in paving projects will be carried out in the city this summer after Council awarded two contracts at its April 22 session.
Specialized Construction Inc. of Cuyahoga Heights will resurface several streets for $749,371, which was considerably less than the engineer’s estimate of $940,000, while Perrin Asphalt of Akron will pave the recreation center parking lot for $223,385.
In addition to annual preventative maintenance, streets to be paved are Atterbury Drive, Red Bush Lane and Iroquois Run from Shepard Hills Boulevard to Apache Run. City Engineer Joe Gigliotti said two bids were received for the project, which also includes curb upgrades on Iroquois from Shepard Hills to Shoshone Trail.

MACEDONIA – After three readings over the past month, City Council has approved legislation that requires people in control of dogs to clean up any mess the animals make.
The ordinance applies to dogs under a person’s control on or at any public street, sidewalk, pathway, park, pedestrian walkway and public facility, and on any private property not owned by the person in control of the dog.
Law Director Mark Guidetti said the ordinance gives police more enforcement authority when dealing with situations where dog owners and controllers are lax in cleaning up after their animals.

MACEDONIA – Although work is not scheduled to be done until fall 2024 or spring 2025, City Council has OK’d a joint agreement with Twinsburg, Glenwillow and Oakwood Village for improvements to the Shepard, Richmond, Broadway and Ravenna roads intersection.
Council took action Feb. 25. Earlier in the week, Twinsburg Council approved the agreement, and Macedonia officials said the other communities have either followed suit or will soon.
About $2.07 million of the estimated cost has been pledged from sources such as the Ohio Public Works Commission, Community Development Block Grants and federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality improvements program.
