Moments at Joe Erico Memorial Games Night

Erico JR Foundation on Tuesday February 2, 2021 hosted a memorial games night in honour of its late patron and sports legend Joe Erico. The recently launched foundation was established by Micheal Eric, a Nigerian athlete, professional basketball player and son of Joe Erico. The honorary event which was a celebration of the life and legacy of the former Super Eagles goalkeeper and assistant coach was held at Warriors Basketball Court, Industrial Avenue, Ilupeju, Odi-Olowo, Lagos. The evening featured impressive playoffs with home team; D’Warriors, Nigerian Wheelchair Basketball Team and acts of service in respect to the late Joe Erico. Widely known for his passion and love for sports, Joe Erico was the official goalkeeper for all Nigeria’s six matches for the 1976 Africa Cup of Nations in Ethiopia, where the Eagles finished third – making it the first time the country won a medal for AFCON.

Ex-internationals lament NFF officials’ absence at Sofoluwe’s burial and Life Medical Hospital, Ikorodu, Lagos. on Thursday ’Tosin Oluwalowo Ex-internationals have lamented the absence of officials of the Nigeria Football Federation at the burial of late Super Eagles defender, Yisa Sofoluwe. Sofoluwe was buried according to Muslim rites on Wednesday at the Atan Cemetery, Yaba, Lagos on Wednesday. The ex-Eagles defender died at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital on Tuesday after being diagnosed with mild cerebral atrophy, a brain disease, aged 53. Present at the burial ceremony were with members of the fallen footballer’s family, including his wife, Busola, and their two sons, ex-footballers and friends.
