Gov. Mike DeWine welcomed the 81 Ohio Task Force 1 as they arrived back at their Vandalia headquarters Thursday afternoon.
The group had been away for the past 15 days after deploying to assist with the structural collapse of the Champlain Towers South condominium in Surfside, Florida.
The team worked 12 hours shifts assisting with the search and rescue efforts.
As members of the team drove into Ohio Thursday, they were greeted by the cheers and waves from people standing on overpasses, excited to see them home.
Program Manager for Ohio Task Force 1, Evan Schumann, said they were honored that Gov. DeWine and other state officials were at the Vandalia headquarters to mark the team s return.
