The sample was isolated from a patient in the U.S. (NIAID-RML via AP) Wheeling Health Right soon will be joining the movement to offer COVID-19 vaccinations to people around the Ohio Valley. Starting Wednesday, May 19, Wheeling Health Right will begin delivering vaccinations on Wednesday, Thursdays and Fridays to those ages 16 and older. Vaccinations will be delivered by appointment only and those appointments can be made by calling 304-233-9323. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent with them. One does not need to be a Wheeling Health Right patient to get vaccinated.

Ohio County Officials Report 90th Death From COVID-19 | News, Sports, Jobs

From STAFF REPORTS The Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department reported one new COVID-related death Tuesday night. That marked the 90th such death in the county since the pandemic began. The department also reported three new positive COVID cases Tuesday. That brought that total to 4,397 cases. The Marshall County Health Department reported one new confirmed positive COVID case and five new probable cases in its Tuesday update. The department is sending people to the Department of Health and Human Resources website for its latest totals, which were 2,514 confirmed cases, 932 probable cases and 77 related deaths. The total of eligible people in West Virginia who have received at least their first COVID-19 vaccination shot has climbed past the 50% mark.

From Staff Reports Three of the Northern Panhandle’s four counties found themselves in the safest category Monday on the state’s COVID-19 alert map. Hancock, Brooke and Ohio counties all were green on the Department of Health and Human Resources alert map. Meanwhile, Marshall County was orange, the second-highest-risk category. Hancock County had an infection rate of 13.39 cases per 100,000 residents and a percent positivity of 2.99. Brooke County had an infection rate of 14.33 cases per 100,000 residents and a percent positivity of 2.90. Ohio County had an infection rate of 17.25 cases per 100,000 residents and a percent positivity of 2.63. Marshall County had an infection rate of 25.27 cases per 100,000 residents and a percent positivity of 5.06.
