Russellville Independent Schoolâs Jennifer Howard was among 24 educators honored recently by being selected as Kentucky Valvoline Teacher Achievement Award winners for 2022.
Howard has worked at RHS for six years and says it is an absolute honor to have been nominated.
âIâm so excited to be able to represent a school and community that has shown me so much love and support over the years,â said Howard. âWhile Iâm not a native of Russellville or Logan County, it has become a place that has shaped me both personally and professionally. I hope that through this recognition I am able to shine a light on the amazing teachers and students we have in our district.â
I worked in theatre for years and I remember working with Oliver Palmer years ago, when his father, Nick, was the conductor at the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra. If memory serves me correctly (and it s been a hot minute), I choreographed a middle school version of
Scrooge (or maybe it was
Charlie & The Chocolate Factory) he starred in and I think I worked with him when he was in high school too. Even then, Oliver had stage presence for days. He had a huge personality and knew how to command the attention of an audience.
This Friday night, he ll be commanding the attention of a national audience. He s going to appear on the two-hour season finale of

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WFIE) - Itâs been nearly a year since schools all across the country shut down their buildings and moved to virtual learning.
When the 2020-21 school year started, several Kentucky school districts adapted to a hybrid learning schedule. Owensboro High School was one of these districts. Students are either in the classroom Monday and Tuesdays or Thursdays and Fridays. Everybody learns virtually on Wednesdays.
