HULL The bloom of the stinging lion s mane jellyfish was so pervasive in Duxbury last year that the town s lifeguards made a permanent addition to their first aid kits spray bottles of vinegar.
Assistant Recreation Director Steve Studley said there have not been any sightings, or reports of stings, yet this year. Let s cross our fingers, he said. It s all quiet on that front.
But further north in Hull, state and local officials are already issuing warnings.
In an advisory last week, the state Department of Conservation and Recreation said the jellyfish have been spotted at Nantasket Beach and purple flags have been raised to indicate dangerous marine life.
Jim Krumel: Thursday marks one year of life during a pandemic

I plead guilty to being one of the late believers about the virus. It wasn’t until the NCAA canceled March Madness a year ago that I was convinced the virus was serious. Money talks. And the message sent from that loss of money was loud and clear.
