PENDLETON â Oregon 2022 gubernatorial candidate Jessica Gomez visited Pendleton Sunday, July 18, to campaign for her platform focusing on business, education and homelessness.
Gomez, who is the founder and CEO of the Medford-based Rogue Valley Microdevices and chair of the Oregon Tech Board of Trustees, came to Pendleton to meet with the Oregon Wheat Growers League, talk with members of the community and listen to their concerns.
âIâm hearing a lot about the economy, Iâm hearing a lot about workforce issues,â she said.
Workforce participation rates are sitting at 62.5%, according to Federal Reserve Economic Data, and this needs to be addressed, Gomez said.
Gomez is among one of the first Republicans to announce they would run to replace Democrat Governor Kate Brown, who cannot seek re-election due to term limits.

Negotiations were expected to edge closer to a contract on Monday morning, as the strike of Oregon Tech faculty reaches its second week at the Klamath Falls and Wilsonville campuses. But the faculty union Oregon Tech American Association of University Professors (AAUP) said university officials won’t budge on the union s pay proposal and that no deal had been reached by Monday afternoon.

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. Senior leadership at the Oregon Institute of Technology said Friday that they are disappointed in the actions of the faculty union as tensions at the public university come to a head.
Oregon Tech - American Association of University Professors (OT-AAUP), the faculty union, said Thursday that it has delivered notice of its intent to strike. If the strike does materialize, it is set to commence no earlier than Monday, April 26.
