Hontiveros signs Senate resolution condemning China s illegal activities in the WPS
Senator Risa Hontiveros has signed the proposed Senate Resolution No. 708 along with Senators Frank Drilon, Leila de Lima, Ralph Recto, Nancy Binay, Richard Gordon, Kiko Pangilinan, Lito Lapid, Grace Poe, Bong Revilla, and Joel Villanueva that condemns the illegal activities of the People s Republic of China in the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Philippines and other parts of the West Philippine Sea. I am one with my colleagues in the Senate in condemning, in the strongest possible terms, China s incessant activities in the WPS. We are united in our call for China to uphold the rule of law and to respect our country s sovereignty. In a statement on Tuesday, PMA Alumni Association Inc. (PMAAAI) and PMA Retirees Association Inc. (PMARAI) also slammed the Chinese Embassy for dismissing the concern of the Philippines. “The acts of the Chinese Embassy in downplaying the issue and subverting the truth are very alarming indeed,” the PMA associations said.

The University of Georgia bestowed one of its highest honors on William “Bill” P. Flatt, D.W. Brooks Distinguished Professor Emeritus, and the late Ivery Clifton, a former faculty member and administrator in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and associate vice president for academic affairs, in a virtual awards ceremony Jan. 25.
The President’s Medal recognizes extraordinary contributions of individuals who are not current employees of UGA and who have supported students and academic programs, advanced research and inspired community leaders to enhance the quality of life of citizens in Georgia. The honor is awarded in conjunction with UGA’s annual Founders Day celebration.
