A Virtual 104th Birthday Celebration Held for Syracuse Woman

A Virtual 104th Birthday Celebration Held for Syracuse Woman The pandemic has made it hard for all of us: not being able to do the things we love, not being able to visit our families. With the difficult circumstances come the need to adapt to the change. In today s word, the word virtual is one that many are thankful for. That includes the family of Josephine Lovett, who turned 104 years old on Sunday. Lovett lives in Liverpool, in the general Syracuse area, and her family realized they wouldn t be able to celebrate her birthday like they have in years past. For this year, they celebrated virtually because Onondaga Center, the nursing home Lovett lives in, currently still can’t accept visitors.

Covid-19 deaths in Onondaga County nursing homes are 34% more than reported, state says

Covid-19 deaths in Onondaga County nursing homes are 34% more than reported, state says Updated Feb 06, 2021; today. As of Feb. 4, the state put the death toll for Onondaga County nursing homes at 244. But that didn’t include 82 more nursing home residents who died from the coronavirus outside of their facilities. That’s an increase of 34%. That means a total of 326 nursing home residents in the county have died from Covid-19, the state now says. The new numbers are the most detailed look, so far, at the true devastation that the coronavirus wrought on nursing home residents. Statewide, 13,163 nursing home residents died related to Covid-19, according to state data compiled today by the Empire Center, a conservative think tank. Of those, 4,067, or 31%, died outside of those nursing facilities.
