Three Lakes looks to revitalize downtown
Three Lakes has been accepted into the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation’s Connect Communities Program. It is an initiative that works with communities to advance downtown revitalization efforts. Three Lakes is one of nine communities in the state that were added to the program last month.
“The Three Lakes Chamber and the Forward Three Lakes Downtown Working Group are thrilled to be accepted into the Connect Communities Program,” said Jacqui Sharpe, associate director of the Three Lakes Chamber. “We cannot wait to dig into the education and training available to us as we continue our work toward a vibrant downtown.”

Oneida County citizens work to restore Town Line Lake Park
By Eileen Persike
Is it possible to return a neglected county park to its former glory days and rescue it from the auction block?
A group of Oneida County citizens is working to answer that question.
The Friends of Town Line Lake Park (FTLLP) formed over the past several months after members became aware last summer of the Oneida County Forestry, Land and Recreation Committee’s (FLRC) plans to sell a piece of Town Line Lake Park, located just minutes from downtown Rhinelander.

This week, the Oneida County Forestry, Land and Recreation Committee tabled a resolution to sell a portion of Town Line Lake Park.
That means they won’t decide whether or not to move forward with the sale until their meeting in May.
The decision to table the resolution came after a number of community members expressed opposition to the sale.
Dave DeMent is one of those community members.
He and his wife started a Facebook group to connect people in favor of preserving the park.
DeMent said he sees Wednesday’s action as a win, but he’s not convinced the park will stay in public hands.

The Oneida County Forestry, Land and Recreation Department has announced the county snowmobile trail system it administers will open for the season at noon Tuesday, Jan. 26. The trails are in rough early season condition.
All lake trails in the county remain closed and are considered unsafe until they have been clearly marked by a local snowmobile club.
The department recommends riders stay on clearly marked trails and use caution when riding a snowmobile.
For more information on Oneida County trails, contact local snowmobile clubs, chambers of commerce or the department of forestry, land and recreation. A snowmobile map is available on the county website, www.co.oneida.wi.us.
