Will be first comprehensive exhibition of Dylan’s visual art seen
in the United States
DYLAN@FIU symposium exploring Bob Dylan’s career and cultural influence will coincide with Miami Art Week
FIU is proud to announce that
Retrospectrum, the most expansive and detailed exhibition of Bob Dylan s artwork ever seen on U.S. soil, will have its U.S. debut at the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum on November 30, 2021. Running through April 17, 2022,
Retrospectrum spans six decades of Dylan’s drawing, painting and sculpture. The exhibition’s curation has been designed to showcase the development and diversity in Dylan s visual practice, while immersive and interactive displays will simultaneously illuminate the context of that development in tandem with that of his musical and literary canon.

Bob Dylan: Retrospectrum exhibition that premiered in Shanghai in 2019, I knew immediately that I wanted to bring this iconic artist’s rarely seen visual works to South Florida, to be enjoyed by our students, our broader community and visitors from across the country and around the globe, said FIU president Mark B. Rosenberg about the collection that focuses on Dylan s life-long visual artwork as part of a broader look at his Nobel Prize-winning body of musical accomplishments.

Florida International University has announced that it’ll be hosting the first-ever exhibit of Bob Dylan’s visual artwork in the U.S. this fall.
Bob Dylan: Retrospectrum, opening November 30th at the university’s Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum, will feature more than 120 of Dylan’s paintings, drawings, and sculptures spanning six decades. The exhibit will be on view through April 17th, 2022.
During the exhibit’s opening week, the Wolfsonian Public Humanities Lab (WPHL), FIU’s humanities and arts hub, will present DYLAN@FIU, a symposium exploring Bob Dylan’s career and cultural influence, timed to coincide with Miami Art Week.

FIU awarded $1M by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to help preserve oral history of local communities

Florida International University’s Wolfsonian Public Humanities Lab (WPHL) has been awarded a $1 million grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation for a project to collect and preserve the stories of South Floridians. The project,
Community Data Curation: Preserving, Creating, and Narrating Everyday Stories, will leverage the WPHL’s strong community partnerships with eight South Florida archives, nonprofits, community centers, and museums and help digitize and preserve community stories. The WPHL along with FIU Libraries will work with student interns to record oral histories and provide the necessary training and technical equipment so that these projects are sustainable and remain accessible to all in the community.
