From staff reports Glen Oaks Community College has announced plans to hold an in-person commencement ceremony, to include both 2020 and 2021 graduates. Guests will not be allowed, but the event will be live-streamed. An edited video will be made available following the event, on the college’s social media sites. The ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. May 7 at Ken Schuler Court in the Glen Oaks gymnasium. Nursing and Allied Health pinning ceremonies are being planned, with similar protocol, for 10 a.m. May 8 and 2 p.m. May 8, respectively. “We recognize the importance of commencement, but we are also committed to hosting this event in as safe a manner as possible,” said David Devier, Glen Oaks president, “Although we are able to increase the number of people allowed during indoor gatherings per the governor’s recent order, we will still be unable to accommodate family members and guests.”
