Face masks: How COVID-19 took tailors, teenagers out of job market

COVID-19 pandemic has created a huge market for face masks said to be worth $74.90bn  globally in the first quarter of 2021, JOSEPH OLAOLUWA reports
On weekdays, the entrance to the Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos, is a market place with hawkers chasing after students and lecturers with surgical face masks. The hawkers are mainly teenagers running from vehicle to vehicle, no matter the time of the day.
Last Saturday, only James Jacob was sitting in a corner close to the taps installed outside the school premises. He was strategically positioned at the bus-stop raising his face masks for those that needed it. Jacob’s physical challenged could not deter him. ....
