New York [US], February 13 (ANI): Karim Khan, a United Kingdom barrister, has been elected in the second round as the next chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Parties to the ICC on Friday elected Khan as the new prosecutor for a nine-year term at the United Nations (UN) in New York, the Times of Israel reported. Karim will replace Fatou Bensouda from the Gambia, later in the month of June.

Criminal lawyer and human rights expert Karim Khan of the United Kingdom was elected on Friday to be the next Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
He will take office on 16 June, replacing Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda of Ghana.
The President of the Assembly of States Parties, O-Gon Kwon, applauded Mr. Khan on Twitter, saying “Warm congratulations! Thank you all for your hard work!!”

THE HAGUE Criminal lawyer and human rights expert Karim Khan of the United Kingdom was elected on Friday to be the next Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
He will take office on June 16, replacing Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda of Ghana.
