Little Dipper Bar, a sibling of Montrose favorite Poison Girl known for pinball and a casual atmosphere, debuted its new patio last week. Created last fall through a partnership between the City of Houston, Houston Downtown Management District (Downtown District), and METRO, the program allows bars and restaurants on Main Street between Commerce and Rusk to expand their patios into the roadway. The goal is to help the businesses, some of which have been shut down since the start of the pandemic, recover from their economic losses by giving them a safe, socially-distanced seating option.
Plus, O.K.R.A. Charity Saloon has closed . but get ready for something new.

Little Dipper now has a street patio.
On Thursday, the Organized Kollaboration on Restaurant Affairs (O.K.R.A.) announced that its O.K.R.A. Charity Saloon, which donated its profits to local charities ($1.3 million over eight years) will cease to be.
But also in the announcement O.K.R.A. revealed that the bar space has been transferred into the care of longtime saloon general manager Mary Ellen Angel, who purchased it from O.K.R.A. for $10. Angel plans to operate her own bar in the space, keeping the spirit of the saloon alive by donating a portion of the profits to charities.

Original O.K.R.A. Charity Saloon has closed, but the space won’t stay vacant for long. Operators the Organized Kollaboration on Restaurant Affairs have sold the bar to its long time general manager Mary Ellen Angel for $10, the organization announced. Angel tells CultureMap that she will open a new bar in the space at 924 Congress Ave. that will still have a charitable component. She’s tentatively looking at a May opening, assuming she can obtain the necessary permit approvals by then.
