School districts throughout the southwest suburbs stand to gain millions of dollars from the COVID relief packages passed in response to the pandemic.
Local school districts from Orland Park to Evergreen Park, which already received one batch of COVID relief bucks last year, are set to receive more than $78 million from two additional funding packages to help address the many challenges presented by the coronavirus pandemic, state Sen. Bill Cunningham announced earlier this month.
“I’ve been so impressed by how well our students, teachers, and other school staff have navigated the difficulties of the pandemic,” said Cunningham, a Democrat who represents portions of Chicago and the southwest suburbs. “As we continue our recovery, this funding will give our schools more resources to help their students get on track and return to full-time, in-person learning.”

The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is , and this is what I intend to do about it.
If this were normal life and any other year except for the 2020-21 school year, this would be a question that would make me stop and think. However, there isn t much to think about when all administrators, teachers, board members, parents and students talk about is a safe return to school. I am a firm believer that we need to make decisions that will reflect what is best for our children. Many families have ideas defining what is best for them. This, as we all know, isn t always what is best for all. The most pressing issue for any school board is trying to please everyone. Sadly, this school year we have been dealt a situation that is hard to get a handle on. Luckily, the return to normalcy seems to be peeking around the corner. So, my intention would be to work with fellow board members in making a seamless transition for our families to attain the education

ORLAND PARK, IL Wish it was spring already? Many will agree if you answered yes. A snowstorm that started over the weekend and lasted into Tuesday morning dumped more than a foot of snow on some areas, with the highest snowfall total so far nearly 18 inches seen at Midway airport.
