Several local schools have appeared on the stateâs School Outbreak report, while officials in Howell are confident things are getting better and they can continue in-person learning.
In a letter (posted below) to families of students in Howell Public Schools, Superintendent Erin MacGregor states that two schools are appearing on this weekâs Michigan Department of Health and Human Services School Outbreak Report. An outbreak in an educational setting is two or more cases linked by time and place. Howell High School will appear three times, affecting six students, with each instance being limited to the original case of a student testing positive and one additional case of another student that was linked. Hutchings Elementary also appears in the report for a case involving a staff member who tested positive, with 3 students who were identified as close contacts testing positive.

A new co-working and community space officially opened up to the community on Thursday with a ribbon-cutting and open house celebration for the Brighton Light House.
Brightonâs Anna and Dan Oginsky purchased and restored the historic home at 142 Brighton Lake Road, which was built in 1862 and first owned by a resident who fought for the Union at Gettysburg. Dan Oginsky said they had been looking for space where his wife Anna could open her healing arts business, Heart Connected, and a place he could indulge his passion for working on cars.
At first glance, they werenât sure the home would be the right fit, but then Dan says he had the inspiration to do a historic renovation, build a period-looking carriage house, adding the space they needed, and in the process renew an amazing property near downtown Brighton. A new co-working and community space in a renovated historic Brighton home is the manifestation of a couple s longtime dream.
Anna and Dan Oginsky have been working to restore an historic home at 142 Brighton Lake Road past residents included a Civil War soldier and a mayor since purchasing the 1862 house in 2016.
Earlier this month, the Oginskys opened Brighton Light House in the house, which they expanded, and a new carriage house they built next to it.
Brighton Light House is a co-working, conference and business rental space, which also houses Heart Connected, Anna s healing arts and wellness business. It s very multi-use and flexible, Anna Oginsky said. I want it to be an opportunity for a lot of different people to come and share their gifts.
