A U.K.-based Jewish aid group has issued a fundraising appeal on behalf of Uyghur refugees who have fled oppression in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) and relocated to Turkey, where they require financial and medical assistance as they assimilate to their new home.
World Jewish Relief (WJR) said in its appeal that it will use all funds raised to provide food, healthcare access, and psychiatric care to needy Uyghur families who escaped abuses in the XUAR that the U.S. government and several other Western parliaments have designated part of a policy of genocide in the region.
In my years of international business consulting work, I came to recognize that superior systems, while crucial, aren’t enough to sustain any organization. Many companies have spent millions of dollars on outsourced operational consultants and systems experts only to find the entity lacked spirit, substance, strategy and sustainability. Hyper-focusing on outsourcing creates a motion of activity that temporarily covers the lack of forward movement on mission and vision while also obscuring the holes in the soul of the institution. What is true for the heart of an organization is also true for the soul of society: Outsourcing isn’t the answer.

Genesis Prize Foundation to honor Rabbi Jonathan Sacks
(JNS) The Genesis Prize Foundation announced plans to honor the late prominent scholar, theologian, philosopher and former Chief Rabbi of the United Kingdom Lord Jonathan Sacks. In 2020, the foundation for the first time invited the public to nominate laureates for this year’s award. Sacks, one of the seven finalists, passed away on Nov. 7 in the midst of the voting campaign, during which tens of thousands of Jews throughout the world cast their votes for him. On Feb. 10, director, producer and philanthropist Steven Spielberg was announced as this year’s recipient of the Genesis Prize. Sacks served as a member of the Genesis Prize Selection Committee from its founding until 2015.
