The Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Karim Asad Ahmad Khan QC, who is on a week-long visit to Sudan, has been assured of support for the ICC at all levels, during meetings with Sudanese Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok, the deputy chair of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TRC) Gen Mohamed Hamdan (Hemeti), Attorney General Mubarak Mahmud, TRC members, and international representatives to Sudan.
The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and head of the United Nations Integrated Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS), Volker Perthes, has called on all parties at the Juba peace talks “to grasp the chance for peace and to bring a comprehensive settlement home to Sudan”. The US Envoy to Sudan, Donald Booth, has also affirmed his country’s support for the negotiations.

UNITAMS head Volker Perthes (UNITAMS)
The head of the United Nations Integrated Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS), Volker Perthes, visits Kassala state and Red Sea state today and tomorrow.
In Kassala, Perthes is scheduled to meet the wali (governor), members of his government and activists to learn about the situation in the state after the tribal violence in the past months and the influx of refugees from Ethiopia.
Tomorrow, Volker Perthes will visit Red Sea State. He will meet the state governor, members of his government, civil society leaders, activists and Resistance Committees. Perthes will also have separate talks with representatives of Nuba and Beni Amer tribes, which have clashed violently for many years. He will also visit Port Sudan’s port.
