Feb. 22 Developers in Johnson County have long said the costs of land and construction are too high for them to make much of a profit off more affordable apartments a housing market the area sorely needs.
But now a Utah-based firm has a solution, using existing buildings that are very similar to apartment buildings.
The developer plans to convert two Overland Park hotels into apartments with rental prices more attainable for middle-income workers who can t afford most Johnson County housing. It s not a new idea, but it is one that has grown in popularity across the country in recent years, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic as more hotels closed amid a damaged tourism industry.

United Community Services of Johnson County released its five-year report on poverty, which shows more people are living at or below the poverty level today.

Everyone is still waiting for Basement Biden to help people get jobs and decrease taxes like Trump did instead watch him cut thousands of gas and oil jobs and raise consumers costs for gasoline and heating oil. China joe is a fool if he pulls that same shit obummer did, gas was $4 a gallon for a time and probably averaged $3.50 for most of his time in office. Throughout the entire country that raised the price of everything, food, clothing you name it, it cost more to move product because gas went up and it nearly wiped out the middle class.

Jan. 11 A line already stretched out the door last Wednesday, long before the homeless shelter opened for the night at a Lenexa church.
Volunteers greeted those waiting with temperature checks and a hot meal, and soon all 30 cots were accounted for. Within a couple of hours, staff had turned away nine more people seeking shelter.
That s typical, said Barb McEver, founder of Project 1020, which runs the shelter that can house only a small fraction of the people in Johnson County who need it.
