Hanoi (VNA) –
Vietnam, as the rotating President of the United Nations Security Council
(
UNSC) for April, held a ministerial open debate on April 8, focusing on “Mine
action and sustaining peace: Stronger partnerships for better delivery”.
The event, held both
virtually and in person under the chair of Vietnamese Minister of Foreign
Affairs Bui Thanh Son, was attended by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres,
along with ministers, deputy ministers, ambassadors, and heads of missions of
the UNSC member states.

Jakarta (VNA) – The 11th meeting of the
ASEAN-Australia Joint Cooperation Committee
was held in the form of a videoconference on April 8, to review the bilateral
cooperation in the previous year and discuss orientations in the coming time.
Ambassador
Nguyen Hai Bang, head of Vietnam’s Permanent Mission to ASEAN, in his capacity
as chair of the Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI) Task Force, spoke highly
of Australia’s aid worth 2.8 million USD for the implementation of the IAI Work
Plan III (2016-2020).
He
requested Australia to further assist ASEAN in carrying out the IAI Work Plan
Prime Minister of Laos by the country’s National Assembly
(NA) on March 22, submitted the list of Cabinet members for the 2021 – 2025
tenure to the parliament for approval.
The Lao NA approved the proposed list, in which
General Chansamone Chanyalath was elected Deputy PM, Defence Minister Sonesay
Siphandon Deputy PM and Minister of Planning and Investment, Kikeo
Khaykhamphithoun Deputy PM, Senior Lieutenant General Vilay Lakhamphong
Minister of Public Security, Saleumsay Kommasith Minister of Foreign Affairs,
and Bounchom Oubonpaseut Minister of Finance.
