Congratulations to Nantambu Calhoun from Mauldin Middle School in Greenville County and Annise Rousey from Concord Elementary School in Anderson County, who were selected as the 2020-2021 Golden Apple Teachers of the Year!
The Illinois Schools Report Card finds that 88.2 percent of teachers stay at Concord Elementary School year to year, according to their 2020 three-year average.
The Illinois State Board of Education records data concerning faculty salary, retention and attendance because maintaining a stable faculty makes for a better environment for teachers and students, furthering student success, according to the report.
Cass SD 63 full-time faculty members number 54, with a student-teacher ratio of 16-to-1. There are 481 students enrolled at the elementary school.
The average salary for teachers within the district is $71,106, ranking it 137th out of 1096 districts in the state for pay. About 90.9 percent of teachers at the elementary school and 90.9 percent of those in the district were absent 10 days or fewer in 2020, compared to 86.6 percent of teachers in the state.
Lindbergh Schools and the Concord Farmers Club have reached an agreement for the district to purchase the Farmers Club property located at 10140 Concord School Road. This property will provide Lindbergh “flexibility and space to support its long-term master facility plan for continuous improvement,” the district said in the announcement.
Lindbergh Schools purchased the Concord Farmers Club for its appraised value of $668,000. The land is roughly 3.56 acres and sits next door to Sperreng Middle School.
The Concord Farmers Club opened in 1873 and was in operation for 148 years before closing its doors in January 2021. In recent years it served as an event center that hosted weddings and other events, but it started as a meeting place for farmers to sell their goods. It then served as a library, school and meeting venue as it was passed down from the original farmers to their descendants. Some of its founding members were Adolphus Busch and Eberhard Anheuser.

Louie, the St. Louis Blues mascot, visited Concord Elementary School during National Believe Day on Dec. 7, 2018 to collect letters for Santa from first-grade students. During National Believe Day, Macy’s doubles its donations to the Make-A-Wish Foundation from $1 to $2 for each letter to Santa they receive.
