Truck Collides with Tree on State Highway 21 In Monroe County
On Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at approximately 6:38am, the Monroe County Communications Center received a report of a truck colliding into a tree off of State Highway 21 near County Highway E in the Greenfield Township. The driver of a red 2011 Ford F-150 was found to be injured and trapped in the vehicle.
The Oakdale Fire Department extricated the driver out of the vehicle, who was then transported to a hospital by the Tomah Area Ambulance Service. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office investigated the crash and found that the driver suffered from a medical condition prior to veering off of the highway.

Updated: Tomah man dies in motorcycle crash

William M. Nelson, 29, Tomah died at the scene, according to authorities.
The department received a report of a motorcycle crash at 10:08 p.m. Saturday. Upon arrival, deputies located a 2002 Suzuki GSF 600 in the north ditch. The driver had been ejected from the motorcycle after it overturned going into the ditch and was injured. He succumbed to his injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.
Highway 16 was closed for over an hour and the incident remains under investigation.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Monroe County 911 Communications Center, Monroe County Medical Examiner, Tomah Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Oakdale Fire Department, Tomah Area Ambulance Service, Tomah Rescue Technicians and Gundersen Air.
