  TORONTO Fertility, pregnancy and childbirth are not solely experienced by women, and advocates and experts say that it’s time to change the narrative to be more gender inclusive. From patient intake forms to online forums and communities, pregnancy is portrayed as something that only happens for women, more often than not excluding non-binary and trans people, and advocates say this exclusion isn’t always accidental. “It s often a lot more active, intentional and hostile and often coming from a place where people would call themselves inclusive, or equitable or feminists, but are also trans exclusionary,” Anna Penner, non-binary gestational parent of three, and Seed and Sprout program ambassador and birth and postpartum doula with Birth Mark, told CTVNews.ca in a Zoom interview on Friday.

Maine South High School District 207 Board Honors Students for Extracurricular Activities Three seniors were honored by the Maine Township High School District 207 Board of Education for achievement in extracurricular activities. The students honored were Ramy Atia from Maine East, Jenna Daube from Maine West and Niki Manolis from Maine South. RAMY ATIA Ramy has taken a challenging schedule of courses during his time at Maine East in addition to volunteering at the Al-Azhar Islamic Foundation that is focused on bringing Islamic schools to Illinois in addition to helping younger students understand Islamic religion and culture. In the area of extracurricular activities at Maine East, he has been a three-season athlete for three years which includes basketball, volleyball and soccer. Maine South High School District 207 Board Honors Students for Career Exploration The District 207 Board of Education named three students as “207’s Best” in the area of career exploration during the April meeting. The students recognized were Anna-Christina Gonzalez from Maine West, Inara A. Matani from Maine East and Thomas “Tommy” Weber from Maine South. Anna-Christina is a perfect example of what District 207 aspires to help every student “find their why” says Maine West Principal Dr. Eileen McMahon. She calls Anna-Christina’s journey one that has been “thoughtful, ground and methodical” to find her chosen path after high school.
