Superintendent Theron Schutte of Marshalltown Community School District will receive an Alumni Achievement Award from the Iowa State University College of Human Sciences. COVID depresses Iowa bowl game travel plans

IOWA CITY Just like everything else in 2020, the upcoming college football bowl season will be an unconventional one for Iowa and Iowa State fans even as many experience the typical enthusiasm over bowl invites for the Hawkeyes and Cyclones. For starters, due to COVID-19 concerns and restrictions, far fewer fans will be traveling to the game destinations with the University of Iowa bound for Nashville and the Dec. 30 Music City Bowl and Iowa State University headed to Glendale, Ariz., for the Jan. 2 Fiesta Bowl. The PlayStation Fiesta Bowl is not permitting any general admission to the game “due to the COVID-19 pandemic” meaning only families of student-athletes and coaches can attend.

Zumbach to retire from Belin McCormick BY BUSINESS RECORD STAFF Tuesday, December 15, 2020 2:29 PM At the end of the month, community leader Steve Zumbach will retire from the Belin McCormick Law Firm, where he has worked since 1977, the firm announced.  Zumbach’s practice focused on closely held family businesses. His primary areas of practice were mergers and acquisitions, corporate law, estate law, tax law and nonprofits. He has also been very active in the community and with Iowa State University.  Zumbach earned his undergraduate degree at Iowa State University, his law degree from the University of Iowa and a doctorate in economics at Iowa State. He is also a certified public accountant.
