Guest Column: Consultant Barry Mardit Gives ‘CRS 2021’ High Marks
February 25, 2021 at 1:20 AM (PT)
Mardit
Was this year’s COUNTRY RADIO SEMINAR (CRS) the annual event we’ve come to expect? We knew there’d be no suitcases, rush to the airport or long road trip, hotel check-in, handshakes, waiting for badges/lanyards/shoulder bags of swag, or the inevitable “whend’ya get in” greetings. What we didn’t know was how great CRS could be without these traditions.
Perhaps the agenda committee and Board of Directors knew. When the sharpest minds in Country radio and records come together, it all but guarantees a great “playlist.”
Bring Me The Horizon take top spot in album chart
Bring Me The Horizon (Ian West/PA)
Bring Me The Horizon have landed their second UK number one album with Post Human: Survival Horror.
The Sheffield rockers last topped the chart in 2019 with Amo.
Their album, which was first released in physical formats in October last year, narrowly saw off competition from Bicep’s Isles.
Oli Sykes (Lewis Stickley/PA)
Singer Oli Sykes said: “We really weren’t expecting to get a number one after having a record out for three months, so we’re super stoked for this to happen especially after getting the top five last year.
Rock band You Me At Six celebrate chart success
You Me At Six have gone straight to number one with their album Suckapunch.
The rock band, from Weybridge in Surrey, dethroned last week’s chart-topper, Sir Barry Gibb’s Greenfields: The Gibb Brothers’ Songbook.
It is their second number one album, following 2014’s Cavalier Youth, and their sixth top 10 collection overall.
Celebrating the news, frontman Josh Franceschi said: “Thank you to our fans, you guys are incredible. Without you we wouldn’t be here after 15 years.
“Maybe most importantly, thank you to everyone who has caused us pain or wrote us off or said we were done. This is for you.
