Senator Dickson’s ex-aide charged with N864 million procurement fraud

A former aide to former Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State, Embeleakpo Apere, was on Thursday, arraigned by the EFCC, charged with N864.1 million procurement fraud.
Apere served Dickson as senior special assistant on Millennium Development Goals.
He was arraigned alongside Rollins Allison Amacree, Clever Loveday and a company: Oriazy Global Link Limited before Justice Jane E. Inyang of the Federal High Court sitting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
All the accused are facing a 10-count charge bordering on alleged conspiracy and procurement fraud.
Count 2 of the charges read: ”That you, Embeleakpo Apere and Rollins Allision Amacree, on or about 2015 and 2016 in Bayelsa State within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, did without soliciting for expression of interest by publishing a notice to that effect in Two National Newspapers and in your Journal, awarded and paid contract worth
The governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has approved the release of N3.8 billion for capital projects for the first quarter of the year which are expected to cut across all three senatorial districts in the state.
Making this known on Sunday in a statement, the state Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Asiru Idris, said the implementation of the projects will be closely monitored to ensure their speedy completion to specification.
“Governor Yahaya Bello, has approved N3.8 billion for the construction of projects. These include the construction of Idah/Ajaka, Ejule and Anyigba junction roads which were awarded to Messrs Tech. Engineering Construction Company at the sum of Three Hundred and fifty Million Naira only,” the statement said.
