Almost half a century after founding his pioneering motor maker on the family farm, Japanese billionaire Shigenobu Nagamori is handing over leadership of Nidec Corp. to a former Nissan Motor Co. executive to lead an ambitious pivot into the electric-vehicle space.
Jun Seki will take over from Nagamori as chief executive officer, the Kyoto-based company said last week as it announced better-than-projected annual results. The leadership change, which comes a little over a year after Seki’s move from Nissan, will be finalized when Nidec’s board meets June 22. Nagamori, who founded Nidec in a shack in 1973, will remain chairman.

TOKYO, April 23 (Reuters) - Japanese shares closed lower on
Friday, as stricter government curbs to contain COVID-19
infections raised economic recovery concerns, while a
disappointing forecast from Nidec added to the cautious mood at
the start of the corporate earnings season.
The Nikkei share average fell 0.57% to 29,020.63,
while the broader Topix lost 0.39% to 1,914.98. Both
indexes declined more than 2% for the week. The market sentiment has gotten weaker since reports on the
virus emergency measures started floating this week, said
Koichi Kurose, chief strategist, Resona Asset Management. And now, after Nidec disappointed investors, they want to
confirm the corporate outlook trend before making bets.

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is accepting applications for its Increasing Diversity in Environmental Careers program.
The program, which first launched in 2019 and is in its third cohort, creates pathways to environmental careers for underrepresented students, including racial or ethnic minorities, women, or people with disabilities.
Applicants have to be pursuing an undergraduate degree in science, technology, engineering, or math.
What makes this project special is the mentorship opportunities that connect students with professionals in those fields and, ultimately, preparing these students for the next step in their career and future.
