The sparring over the controversial decision by the government to allow Bahamas Petroleum Company (BPC) to drill an exploratory oil well in Bahamian waters continues with the company seeking security for costs now that a Supreme Court judge has agreed to allow it to be joined in court action brought by a group of environmentalists.
Those environmental groups that are part of the coalition known as Our Islands Our Future (OIOF), are decrying that move by BPC, insisting it will slow justice.
“It is unfortunate that immediately after being joined, the first thing BPC did was to apply for security for costs,” the coalition said. “This is a cynical move to price citizens out of justice.
