Maine House advances bill to expand dental coverage under MaineCare
Maine is currently one of only 10 states that do not cover preventative and restorative dental care under their Medicaid programs.

The Maine House voted Wednesday to expand dental coverage under MaineCare, a move that would provide important services to more than 200,000 residents if the Senate also backs the measure.
Maine is currently one of only 10 states that only covers dental care when it becomes an emergency. The bill that won bipartisan support in the Maine House would allow people age 21 or older who are on MaineCare the state’s Medicaid program to receive preventative, diagnostic and restorative care.
Angela Cole Westhoff chosen to lead Maine Health Care Association
The board of directors of the Maine Health Care Association has selected
Angela Cole Westhoff of Sidney to be the association’s next president and chief executive. She will succeed Rick Erb, who is retiring after 20 years with MHCA. Westhoff has most recently served as executive director of the Maine Dental Association and had held a similar position with the Maine Osteopathic Association. Wanda Pelkey, chair of the MHCA board of directors, cited Westhoff’s knowledge and skills as a terrific complement to an experienced and dedicated MHCA team.
