Fawad invites the opposition parties to observe working of the machine, and suggest any improvements

A preliminary model of an electronic voting machine (EVM) was shown by the government at the Parliament House on Wednesday.
The prototype machine was presented by the Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry, Adviser to Prime Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Babar Awan and Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Information Faisal Javed.
While briefing the media, the information minister said that the new voting machine fulfils the thirty-six conditions of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
He said the EVM will produce quick election results, and the contesting candidates will have no reason to level allegations of rigging.

Hailakandi (Assam) [India], May 2 (ANI): One reserved unused Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) was found inside a trunk at a counting centre in Assam s Hailakandi on Saturday evening, a day before the counting of polls are scheduled to begin.
As per a statement, District Election Officer Megh Nidhi Dahal along with returning officers rushed to the spot where the EVM was detected and made an inquiry into it. The contesting candidates also reached the spot. On being investigated, it was found that the unused EVM inside a trunk that found its way inadvertently to the counting venue was a reserved one and there were no votes polled therein, the statement said, adding that it was open before the contesting candidates, who were satisfied with the results.
The TMC has written to the CEO requesting an immediate recounting of votes, party sources said, alleging "tampering and mismanagement of numbers from the EVM and said that the counting process was stalled from time to time and was not reported by the poll panel.

Deputy Election Commissioner Sudip Jain said there was excessive load on the servers but the counting was on. EC Secretary General Umesh Sinha said the counting was going on smoothly , and that the load on servers cannot affect the counting of votes on the ground anyway.
