Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies de-escalated two potentially dangerous incidents within 48 hours on April 15 and April 17.
“Unfortunately, law enforcement has become the default mental health agency due to the lack of funding and resources available,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “In these dangerous instances, our deputies did a great job using their training to safely de-escalate these incidents and resolve them without anyone being injured. I’m very proud of our team and thank them for successfully resolving back-to-back dangerous encounters.”

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. - A man who barricaded himself inside his home after threatening to harm his ex-girlfriend was taken into custody this weekend, deputies said.
The Flagler County Sheriff s Office said that on Saturday, dispatchers received a call from a woman who said that her ex-boyfriend, 34-year-old Joseph Bourke, was refusing to let her collect her belongings and was threatening to harm her via text messages. He allegedly said that he would attempt suicide by cop if she called law enforcement as well.

Flagler County Sheriff s Office deputies on April 2 protected a woman from an armed man who d threatened to kill her.
The Flagler County Communication Center received a 911 call from the victim reporting that she had received multiple threatening text messages from her estranged boyfriend, Aaron Thayer, 39.
FCSO deputies arrived at the victim’s residence, where the victim showed multiple text messages that had been sent to her by Thayer.
