Tottenham 1-3 Manchester United: player ratings to the theme of Sesame Street sketches that wouldn’t air today Share this story Photo by Kris Connor/ Getty Images As a child born in the 1970s and raised in the 1980s, the “golden era” of Sesame Street is a huge part of my upbringing. This was back when it was still uncommon to see a racially integrated cast being nice to people, before people could see Snuffalupagus, and before Mr. Hooper passed away and taught a generation of kids how to grieve. But as with any show that’s been around for 50 years, times change and our perceptions of what is and is not acceptable to show to kids has also changed. The early years of Sesame Street could actually be described as somewhat edgy and even radical, and there were numerous sketches, films, and movies that were poured into my eyeballs back then that would NEVER fly today. Today, we’re going to look at some of those.

Illuminating Bathtime Toys : glo pals

Hagan Walker and Anna Barker, entrepreneurs in Mississippi State University s Center for Entrepreneurship and Outreach, created colorful cubes that light up when dropped in liquid and the Glo Pals have since been recognized with a Gold Award win in the 2020 Mom s Choice Awards. The pair got feedback from moms and found that the toys were especially soothing sensory toys for kids with autism and Glo Pals were born as fun characters that promote imaginative learning. Now, the Glo Pals range is being expanded, in celebration of National Autism Acceptance Month, to include two Sesame Street Characters. There s Elmo and Julia, a Sesame Street Muppet with autism. These two new characters join the existing Glo Pals range, which includes colorful characters like Pippa, Alex and Lumi, each of which has a special personality of their own.
